Artist
Robert James Ritchie (born January 17, 1971), known professionally as Kid Rock, is an American musician, singer, rapper, and songwriter. After establishing himself in the Detroit hip-hop scene, he achieved mainstream success with a rap rock style before later transitioning toward country rock. He is a self-taught musician who performs multiple instruments in his live band and has overseen production on most of his albums. Kid Rock began his career as a rapper and released his debut album, "Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast" (1990), on Jive Records. He followed this with independent releases, "The Polyfuze Method" (1993) and "Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp" (1996), in which his style gradually incorporated more rock elements. His breakthrough came with "Devil Without a Cause" (1998), which sold approximately 14 million copies and established his commercial success. The album featured a fusion of hip-hop, rock, and country influences, a direction continued on "Cocky" (2001). In the early 2000s, Kid Rock continued to shift away from his earlier hip-hop style. His self-titled album "Kid Rock" (2003) and "Rock n Roll Jesus" (2007) reflected a stronger emphasis on country rock and mainstream rock. "Rock n Roll Jesus" became his first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200 and included the internationally successful single "All Summer Long". Other albums released during this period included "Born Free" (2010), "Rebel Soul" (2012), "First Kiss" (2015), "Sweet Southern Sugar" (2017)
