Khurmo Shirinova (also spelled Hurmo Shirinova; Хурмо Ширинова) was one of the most famous Tajik singers and composers. Shirinova was born on December 17, 1957 in the city of Khorog in the Badakhshan region. After graduating from high school, she entered the former Tajik State Institute of Arts named after M. Tursunzade and graduated in 1978 , and in the same year began her career in the variety ensemble "Gulshan". Shirinova became one of the most popular singers of pop songs in the 1980s, and in 1987 she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Tajikistan. Unfortunately, in 1998 she died of cancer during the height of her musical career, when there were still many plans of producing new songs and unfinished pieces waiting to be perfected.
