Artist
Kevin Quail, a Chicago native, returned to the Midwest in 1994 after spending 15 years living and working in San Diego. His time in San Diego was well spent- he was part of noted Charles Mingus sideman Charles McPherson’s quintet for six years during the 1980s. He recorded with McPherson on Discovery Records in 1983, which led to a recording in the same year with bassist Andy Simpkins, also on Discovery. More recently, since returning to the Chicago area, he recorded with Carl Leukaufe on the Delmark Records release "Warrior" in 1996, with the Doug Lawrence Orchestra on "Big Band Swing" in 2001, and with Bob Dogan on "Salishan" in 2001. He released his own quartet CD entitled "Oracle" on Quailbone records in 1998. A list of these recordings mentioned above and some of the related websites are included here: Charles McPherson Group, "The Prophet", 1983, Discovery Records, re-issued on the CD "Follow The Bouncing Ball" in 1990. http://www.charlesmcpherson.com/ Andy Simpkins, "Summer Strut", 1983, Discovery Records, re-issued on the CD "Calamba" in 1989. http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/music/artist/card/0,,493487,00.html http://www.mp3.com/artist/andy-simpkins/photos/ Carl Leukaufe, Warrior, 1996, Delmark Records Doug Lawrence, "Big Band Swing", 2001, Doug Lawrence Music. http://www.douglawrencemusic.com/ Bob Dogan, "Salishan", 2001, Big Foot Records http://bigfootjazz.com/bigfoot-bob.htm Kevin Quail, "Oracle", 1998, Quailbone Music User-contributed text is availabl
