Who's the girl in the fishnet stockings? That's what skaters hanging in LA's Koreatown and drag queens browsing naughty lingerie at Playmates wanted to know when Katie DiCicco invaded both venues to vamp and camp her way through a musical tribute to her favorite legwear. The sultry spoof, "Fishnet Stockings," (viewable on YouTube) has proved to be a perfect rite of passage for the fashion designer-turned-singer-songwriter. Music, though a lifelong passion (she had a band called Under the Sink while in middle school), is actually a third career for this recent Cornell grad. Raised in New York City, Katie began acting at six, appearing on stage at Lincoln Center, the Workhouse Theater, Ensemble Studio Theater, Nuyorican Poets Café, and the Blue Heron Arts Center and on MTV, Nickelodeon, NBC, and Live with Regis & Kathy Lee. Though inspired by a multitude of musical genres, Katie has “fashioned” her own unique style, one that incorporates pop, R&B, and electronica. Her jazzy flow, catchy melodies, and funky dance moves have captivated a wide variety of audiences at New York night spots including Santos Party House, Corio, Fat Baby, Ella, Snitch (Citrine), Luke & Leroy (Le Royale), and El Cid in LA, to name a few. Katie DiCicco is a sass-bomb of musical energy just waiting to explode. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
