Katharina Kammerloher is a German mezzo-soprano. She studied voice with Mechtild Böhme in Detmold after completing her oboe studies. She received rewards in several singing competitions. Since 1998 she works with Vera Rozsa in London. Since 1993 Katharina Kammerloher belongs to the company of the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin where she can be heard in various parts including Wellgunde (Rheingold, Götterdämmerung), Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana), Costanza (L’isola disabitata), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). In the world premiere of Maurice Béjart’s ballet Apropos Scheherazade she sang Ravel’s song cycle Scheherazade under Daniel Barenboim, in 1998 the part of Meg Page in a new production of Falstaff (Claudio Abbado / Jonathan Miller) and the part of Magdalena in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Daniel Barenboim / Harry Kupfer. In June 1998 she made her debut as Mélisande in a revival of Ruth Berghaus’ production of Palléas et Mélisande under Michael Gielen with whom, in 1995, she also made her debut at the Salzburg Festival in Lulu. Katharina Kammerloher has worked, among others, with Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, René Jacobs, Michael Gielen, Zubin Mehta and Antonio Pappano. In addition to her operatic work Katharina Kammerloher is also a renowned concert singer.
