Christiane Karg (b. 1980, Feuchtwangen, Bavaria, Germany) is a German soprano singer. She studied singing at the Salzburg Mozarteum with Heiner Hopfner and later took Lied classes under Wolfgang Holzmair. After a stay at the Music Conservatory in Verona, Italy, she graduated from the Mozarteum with a Master of Music in Opera and Musical Theatre Studies, awarded with distinction, an achievement for which she received the Lilli Lehmann Medal from the Mozarteum Foundation. Having previously been a member of the International Opera Studio at the Hamburg State Opera, at the start of the 2008/2009 season Christiane Karg joined the ensemble of the Frankfurt Opera, where she is now singing the major parts for her vocal fach: including Susanna, Musetta, Pamina and Servilia. She performed as a guest singer at the Bavarian State Opera Munich (Ighino/Palestrina under Simone Young), Komische Oper Berlin (Musetta/La Bohème and Norina/Don Pasquale) and at the Theater an der Wien (Ismene/Mitridate and Télaire/Castor and Pollux). For her first time she toured with the Glyndebourne Touring Opera (Poppea/L'incoronazione di Poppea) in the season of 2010/11. Performances at the Glyndebourne Festival will follow in the years to come. She has repeatedly been invited to the Salzburg Festival, including the part of Amor in Dieter Dorn´s Gluck production of Orfeo ed Euridice under the baton of Riccardo Muti last year and in summer 2011 as Zerlina in Mozart´s Don Giovanni conducted by Yannick Nézet-S
