Karlsøy Prestegaard originated on the small island Karlsøy in the Troms region in Norway in 1980. In 1981 they released their first record, a 7" single called "Shanty/Komeini". In 1982 they released their 10 song LP "Dyret 666". By many considered the most important full length album out of northern Norway. The content in their lyrics was considered very controversial by the local press... and all-though not all their music sounded straight up "punk", their attitude most certainly was. Songs with a certian edge lashing out against the police, the dictatorship in Iran and the U.S.A. was just a few of the topics they covered. The media got cought up in textlines like: "Nazareth, nazireth, nazi nazi nazi Israel" and all-though the police did not manage to link Karlsøy prestegaard up to any criminal activity the pressure on the band was so heavy that they collapsed. A lot of chaos followed but in 1990 they released their third record, the "Barn av lyset/Sett han fri" 7". In 2008 the label Smart Patrol Records released a discography CD with the band. The band still exist to this day and plays every year at the Karlsøy festival. The band wants to release another album.
