Jupiter Jones is a German rock band originating from the Eifel region. The band gained widespread recognition in Germany with the song "Still", which contributed to them receiving the Echo Pop award. The band was founded in autumn 2002 at a party in the Eifel. Its name is derived from the character Jupiter Jones, known in German as Justus Jonas, from the original English-language version of the book and radio play series "Three Investigators". The band’s lyrics are predominantly written in German. Jupiter Jones releases music through its own label, Mathildas und Titus Tonträger, named after characters from the "Three Investigators" series. In the year of its formation, the band produced its first demo, "Auf das Leben", which was made available for download. Jupiter Jones subsequently performed as an opening act for bands including Muff Potter, die Donots, and The (International) Noise Conspiracy. In November 2003, the band placed second in the Rockbuster Newcomer Contest of Rhineland-Palatinate, organised by the SWR radio station Dasding. Their first official concert took place in 2004 at the Southside Festival. The debut album "Raum um Raum" was released in October 2004, and its single "Reiss die Trauer aus den Büchern" reached first place in the Dasding newcomer programme Netzparade.
