Juniper Hill is the name of more than one artist: 1) German electronic duo consisting of Marc Hassenzahl and Markus Schwab 2)Hard hitting, dirty rock'n'roll with an angry female vocal 2) The Idea of Juniper Hill came about in September of 2003 when sibblings Roger and Annica Svensson was at a local karaokebar in Sundbyberg, celebrating the birthday of a mutual friend. They got to talking about how sad it was that Annica's former band Mary Puppets (including Annica's highschoolfriend, the guitar-genius Rickard Forsman) had split up and was missing a bassplayer and a drummer. Roger, beeing a bit on the drunk side, claimed to know how to play bass (allthough he had never played a note on that particular instrument before in his life). Rickard was more than glad to start up something new and before too long, Juniper Hill saw the light of day. Roger borrowed (and later bought) a bass from a friend and set out on learning the old Mary Puppets songs and getting a feel for his new instrument. Responding to an add on the internet, Marcus Jonasson became the fourth member of Juniper Hill, filling out the vacant spot behind the drums, in November that same year. A month or so later a couple of new songs were written and the quartette went in to the studio to record their first demo: "Previously Unreleased 2.0" including some of the old recordings of Mary Puppets as well as two new songs, straight ahead punkrock anthem "Pull Me Out" and grungy semiballad "Queen For a Day".
