Artist
Joseph Schwantner (born 1943 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American composer and educator. In 1970 he joined the faculty of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Schwantner is prolific, with many orchestral works to his credit. His style is accessible, coloristic and eclectic, drawing on such diverse elements as French impressionism, African drumming, and minimalism.
