Johann Stadlmayr (* around 1575 probably in Freising, Bavaria ; † July 12, 1648 in Innsbruck, Tyrol) was a South German composer and Salzburg court conductor. Nothing is known about the education and youth of Johann Stadlmayr. In 1603 he was employed as a musician in the court orchestra of the Salzburg prince -archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau ; to this he dedicated ten Magnificat ( Sacrum Beatissimae Virginis Mariae canticum ). In 1604 he became Vice Kapellmeister at the Salzburg court, then Kapellmeister. As early as 1607, however, he accepted a call to the position of court conductor in the Tyrol. After its dissolution in 1618 , he went into temporary retirement, but was employed again in 1624 as court conductor in Innsbruck. Johann Peregrin Hupfauf dedicated one of his contributions to Salzburg-Austrian music history to him . His son P. Alfons Stadlmayr (* 1610; † 1683) was 1652-1673 professor of theology and rector at the Benedictine University of Salzburg .
