Johann Georg Weichenberger (December 11, 1676 in Graz – January 2, 1740 in Vienna) was an Austrian lutenist , composer and imperial official of the Vienna court accounting. Like Wenzel Ludwig Freiherr von Radolt , the Graz merchant's son Johann Georg Weichenberger was not a full-time musician. In addition to his main job, Weichenberger established himself with the former as one of the most influential lutenists in the Austrian-Bohemian region at the beginning of the 18th century. In addition to the "New French Art of the Lute" that he spread, the lute concerto was created at the beginning after 1700. In his compositions, Weichenberger cultivated the French gallant style . Weichenberger composed numerous suites and partitas for lute, as well as concertos for lute, violin and bass. His works can be found in many lute tablatures.
