Jodie Chan (born April 17, 1994) is a vocalist, songwriter, and musician from Hong Kong. Born and raised in Hong Kong where she actively performed since the age of 9 for both local acts and musicals, Jodie would go onto study political science and global health at Northwestern University with an exchange at Sciences Po in Paris. At university, she continued her love for music non-professionally in acapella and writing for small circles of those who knew her. After returning to Hong Kong, Jodie began working in the field of tech where she applied creative writing skills in that unexpected context, launching software products. It wasn’t until the cusp of the pandemic in 2020, that she decided to more actively return to her love for music by releasing a demo as a single on streaming platforms, claiming her role as an original artist and singer-songwriter for the first time. Since then, Jodie has released multiple singles and a self-made MV, with her debut EP due mid 2023. For listeners who know her background, they can reference hints of her eclectic musical background and geek-like love for words, wrapped in an accessible, yet evolving, indie pop format. The common factor in this evolution are that her songs remain story-driven, inspired by real people, with elements of herself braided in.
