Artist
Jochen Malmsheimer (* July 27, 1961, in Essen) is a German cabaret artist. Characteristic of his performances is the elaboration of life's mundane aspects with great vocal and verbal power. He grew up in Bochum from the age of six and graduated from Gymnasium am Ostring in 1982. After completing basic military service, he initially studied German literature and history at Ruhr-Universität Bochum but abandoned his studies in favor of an apprenticeship as a bookseller. From 1981, he gained stage experience as the singer of the blues band "Vatermörder," which stylistically oriented itself towards the Blues Brothers and frequently performed in pubs, as well as at larger regional events like the Bochum Total music festival. Malmsheimer became known as one half of the cabaret duo "Tresenlesen," which he formed with Frank Goosen from 1992 to 2000 and which was reactivated in April 2020. Since 2000, Malmsheimer has predominantly performed as a solo artist. In numerous stage programs, he has created his own art form: epic cabaret. From 2007 to 2013, he regularly assumed the role of the caretaker in the ZDF cabaret show "Neues aus der Anstalt." Together with Urban Priol, Georg Schramm, and Frank-Markus Barwasser, he appeared in the 30th episode of "Neues aus der Anstalt" on October 17, 2017. Jochen Malmsheimer is married and has two sons.
