Appointed to the faculty in oboe and music history at Boise State University in 1983, Professor Jeanne Marie Belfy also serves as Graduate Program Coordinator for Music. Having performed over forty faculty recitals, she also plays with the Faculty Wind Quintet and the Les Bois Chamber Wind Players, most recently at the 2016 Conference of the International Double Reed Society. She has performed with the Boise Philharmonic, the Boise Chamber Orchestra, the Louisville Orchestra, the Muncie Symphony, and the Grand Rapids Symphony. Her oboe pupils have won numerous competitions, including MTNA National Competitions Finalist, the Idaho State Solo Contests, and Idaho’s All-State and All-Northwest auditions; they have earned advanced degrees in oboe performance at prestigious institutions across the country. She coached a chamber ensemble that placed second in the MTNA National Competition. Her publications include articles in refereed journals, Festschrifts, reference books, and the Grove Dictionary of American Music, and she has reviewed over 210 CD recordings for theJournal of the International Double Reed Society. In 1984, she founded the Boise Chamber Music Society, and continues to direct and manage, presenting the four-concert Boise Chamber Music Series of professional artists, as well as the BCMS String Quartet Competitions.
