The seeds of Irregular Slinky were sown when Thomas and Antoine met through a mutual friend at the beginning of the millennium. Thomas at the time studying multimedia and Antoine, an engineering student. Drinks were shared and musical interests formed. The pair began exchanging ideas and laying down 4 track recordings referencing electro and live instrumentation. Through Antoine cane fellow French student Carole, who joined soon after bringing her melodic jazz tinged vocals to guitar and bass compositions. Not long after Joe arrived on keys and the quartet recorded their first 2-song demo at the tail end of 2001. From practising in Joe’s kitchen to their first gigs (with the help of Jeff on drums) at the Polish Club in Glasgow, to Antoine’s own night: Reconnaissance at the Carnival Arts Centre, which has since in it’s various forms built up a good reputation as a quarterly event promoting some of Glasgow’s musical talents with contrasting styles. 2005 brought more studio work and a new 3-track demo CD recorded at Urban Studios and also a stream of gigs generating positive audience response (see gigography) and substantial sales in the demo. Shortly after, drummer Jeff departed and Tam joined solidifying the Irregular Slinky sound. Fast forward to 2006 and the Slinkies have played to more successful reconnaissance nights and made a trip to the East coast to play an anniversary show for the Make Poverty History campaign at the Left Bank in Edinburgh. There is also a sl
