Originally briefly known as Millenia, Iconic Phare was originally formed in 1996 when Paul D'acia, Richard Dews (of Dare) and Russell Dawson-Butterworth got together in a studio in North Wales. Their first Album "Thinking Rock" was completed and lined up for release in 1997, and incorporated the anthemic rock influences of bands such as Pink Floyd and Genesis. Alan Parsons (of The Alan Parsons Project) heard the pre-release version and initiated a reworking of the album as Executive Producer. During this period, Richard Dews had left to pursue other avenues and Paul D'acia and Russell Dawson-Butterworth were joined by guitar virtuoso Wyn Pearson, saxophonist Rico Garofalo, bassist and Chapman Stick player Ollie Collins and drummer/percussionist Richard Kenyon. The new line up recorded a totally fresh version of the album (with several new tracks) under Alan Parsons' Executive Producership and Iconic Phare's "Turning the Tide" was born. Solidified as a permanent line-up, Iconic Phare became a three piece comprising D'Acia, Dawson-Butterworth and Pearson around 2004. April 2006 saw the band perform a major sell out UK concert with the addition of Robin Hames on bass, Matty Roberts on Drums and B.Vox, Gordon Milton-Mcloud on Rhythm Guitars, Backing keyboards and B.Vox and the talented Liz Dawson-Butterworth, who featured on the album as an oboe soloist brought backing vocals - the performance, whilst rare, was stunning and established the band as a truly credible force in conce
