Holy Fawn is a shoegaze / post-metal / blackgaze band from Tempe, Arizona, United States, formed in 2015. The quartet merge dense atmospheres and textural dream-soundscapes with intense heaviness, describing their own output simply as “loud heavy pretty noises.” The band’s lineup includes Ryan Osterman (guitar, vocals), Evan Phelps (guitar), Alexander Rieth (bass, vocals) and Austin Reinholz (drums). Holy Fawn’s early EP Realms (2015) laid the groundwork for their dynamic and ambient-heavy style. Their first full-length album Death Spells (2018) expanded their scope with post-metal intensity and expansive, layered sound-design. They continued with the EP The Black Moon (2020) and the album Dimensional Bleed (2022), both of which received praise for their ambitious blend of shoegaze, black metal textures, and ambient electronics. Most recently, the single “Beneath A Lightless Star” was released in May 2025. Lyrically and thematically the band draw heavily on nature, mortality, transcendence and the liminal spaces between light and darkness.
