Hoffmann & Hoffmann was a German singing and songwriting duo in the schlager genre. It consisted of Michael Hoffmann (* December 3, 1950, in Karlsruhe) and his brother Günther Hoffmann (* October 4, 1951, in Karlsruhe; † March 15, 1984, in Rio de Janeiro). The two brothers started making music together during their school years. Their first major hit, Himbeereis zum Frühstück, the German version of the Bellamy Brothers' hit Crossfire, led to an appearance on ZDF-Disco on September 17, 1977. On February 11, 1980, they performed on the 126th episode of ZDF-Hitparade with the song Alles, was ich brauche, bist Du, the German version of Alan Sorrenti's Tu sei l’unica donna per me. On May 23, 1983, the duo represented Germany in the 28th Eurovision Song Contest with the song Rücksicht, which placed 5th. The single reached 8th place in the German charts. However, the anticipated success that followed did not materialize. After a failed relationship, Günther Hoffmann tragically took his own life on March 15, 1984, in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 32. Michael Hoffmann remained active as a singer throughout the late 1980s. He appeared on ZDF-Hitparade on June 18, 1986, with the song Mich hat noch nie in meinem Leben jemand so verrückt gemacht, and in 1987, he participated in the German national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with Ich geb’ nicht auf, though without success. In recent years, Michael Hoffmann has been producing spiritual and meditative music. User-contributed
