HERMANN KELLER was born in Zeitz (Saxe-Anhalt, Germany) in 1945. He took piano lessons from the age of six and started composing at 14. From 1963 to 1968 he attended the Weimar Conservatory, where he studied Composition with Johann Cilenšek and Piano with Ingeborg Herkomer. His music has been heard inter alia at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Boswil Künstlerhaus, the Berlin Biennale, the Berlin Festival, the Mannheim Klangwerkstatt, the MDR Musiksommer, the UltraSchall Festival (Berlin) and the Rheinsberg Festival. His works are played by the Jena Symphony, the Halle Philharmonic, Ensemble Modern, the Berlin New Music Chamber Ensemble, Ensemble Mosaik, the Modern Art Sextet and ensemble chronophonie as well as such sterling musicians as Heinz Holliger, Steffen Schleiermacher, Ingo Metzmacher, Tomas Bächli and Vinko Globokar.
