Founded in the mid 2000s by songwriter/guitarist Will Deeks and then-singer/bassist Catherine Basile, Hello Ninja went through a few permutations before finding it's first stable lineup that included then drummer Pete Manzelli and second guitarist Ian Sears. After recording the "Hello Ninja is a Band" EP, the group lost drummer Manzelli and Sears when artistic disagreements on the direction of the band's music led to infighting. Filling the void in its lineup with former Reaganauts skinsman Anthony Geehan in 2008, the band scrapped much of its older material and operated briefly as a power trio before bringing on Geehan's childhood friend Tim Thompson in on bass.
