Bram, JP and Joost always enjoyed jamming together: Bram and JP knew each other from high school, Bram and Joost met at the Rock Academy. Their band, Krezip, took off straight away, enjoying a series of huge hits in Holland and playing in front of crowds as big as 60.000. Then, headlining at Pinkpop; Holland’s biggest pop festival, they looked each other in the eye: maybe this is as good as it will ever get? So, after ten years, at the peak of their success, they decided to go out on a high. Just like that. And there were three again. Joost, Bram and JP, jamming. A little bit louder though. They started playing classic rock songs; Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Who and other longhaired bands from the seventies. All they needed now was a singer… Zandvoort, August 2009. A beautiful day on the beach. In a club nearby, Joost, Bram and JP were on stage having fun playing some really hairy music. Enter Michael Devlin. Who? An Englishman from London, who didn’t plan on spending the day at the beach at all. But hey, here he was, so why not check out this band on stage? He liked what he heard: songs by Cream, the Allman Brothers, the Rolling Stones, some modern day Britpop. Sounds great, he thought, these boys can play. Michael’s friend pushed him on stage: do you mind if he sings along? They didn’t. Any song in particular? They settled on ‘Whole Lotta Love’ – what else? – and suddenly everything fell into place. Instead of sounding like people who never played together, they rocked thems
