The Gloo Girls were a NYC-based pop-punk band in the early 1990’s. The primary band members were: Patty Gloo (Beatrice Giovaniello), Sage LeWho (Karen LeSage) and Guitara Seven (Nicole Kennedy). They released a 7” single called “Yo Blondie” /“Barbie U.S.A.” on Dionyssus Records in 1992, which charted as # 2 on Rodney on the ROQ (WROQ, Los Angeles) within a week of its release. They signed a deal with Moving Target Records, and the CD “Attention Shoppers” was released in 1993. Internationally-known artist Mark Kostabi designed the cover art (the same year he designed Gun’s & Roses “Use Your Illusion'' cover art).Their songs were included on numerous compilations, most notably, “I Know What Boys Like” (Shanachie Records), along with The GoGo’s and The Waitresses. The Gloo Girls played at many downtown Manhattan venues, including CBGB’s, The Scrap Bar, The Continental, The Lion’s Den, The Spirol, and area colleges. They ran their own business in SoHo and received international media attention by being “Entreprenuers by Day/Rock band by Night”. They were guests on the first episode of The Jon Stewart Show (MTV), and were the subject of one the first reality-based TV pilots, produced by FOX TV in 1994.
