Gedley Braga

Gedley Braga works as a contemporary artist and a composer since 1986, when he did his first multimedia performance in his hometown - Divinopolis - state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. In those times he had a group (called MORAL) with some friends of the Fine Arts School, in Belo Horizonte (where he took his Bachelor degree in Painting in 1988). In the same city (Belo Horizonte) and University (UFMG), he became Specialist in Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art (1992). Between 1992 and 1994 he was in a band called "Os Habitantes" (with Claudio Jose de Oliveira and Rodrigo Fonseca). This band recorded a "never released CD" in 1994 (the band stopped their activities before). Since 1997 he lives and works in Sao Paulo, Brazil. For nine years (November of 1997 until December of 2006), he worked as conservator and retorer of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology of the University of Sao Paulo. After a Master degree in Science of Communication (2003) he is still taking the PhD in Science of Information in the School of Communication and Arts of the University of Sao Paulo. Love & Hate Installation was his most recent solo exhibition in Sao Paulo. It happened in February of 2005 in the Gabinete de Arte Raquel Arnaud, one of the most important contemporary art gallery in Brazil. He began to work with music again since he met a new friend, Lina de Albuquerque, in october of 2005, when both were working in Belem, north of Brazil and were introduced by a friend called Alegria
