Freundeskreis, also known as FK, were a German hip hop group from Stuttgart. The group consisted of Max Herre, Don Philippe, and DJ Friction, and performed in multiple languages, including German, English, French, and Esperanto. They released several commercially successful recordings, including three albums that reached the top twenty of the German charts. Freundeskreis became known for their socially and politically conscious lyrics, often addressing themes such as equality and international understanding. Their debut album, "Quadratur des Kreises", brought them wider attention and included the single "A-N-N-A", which reached number six on the German charts. Their second album, "Esperanto", was named after the constructed international language, reflecting the group’s view of hip hop as a unifying form of communication among youth. In 1999 and 2000, the group achieved further chart success with singles such as "Mit Dir", featuring Joy Denalane, and "Tabula Rasa Pt. II". They also contributed to the soundtrack of the film "23" with a cover version of "Halt dich an deiner Liebe fest", originally written by Rio Reiser. The recording was based on the "Police & Thieves" riddim by Lee "Scratch" Perry. Freundeskreis were associated with the Stuttgart-based hip hop collective Kolchose. In 2001, the group went on hiatus to allow its members to pursue solo projects, with Max Herre continuing as a solo artist and producer. A greatest hits album, "FK10", was released in 2007. Follow
