Francisco Correa

about

Born in Boyacá, Colombia, Francisco was an undergraduate student at the Juan N. Corpas University Foundation before moving to Europe in 2006 to continue his studies in Barcelona and Paris. He terminated his studies in London with a Master's degree in Classical Guitar at the Royal Academy of Music in 2015. A prize winner in numerous classical guitar competitions in Colombia, he has also been awarded the "Gold Medal", as well as the "Prix de Perfectionnement" of the Conservatory of Saint Germain in Laye, and of Aulnay-sous-Bois in France, where he studied with Judicaël Perroy. A regular solo recitalist, Franciso performs in concert series and festivals in UK, Europe and Latin America. Francisco has performed several concertos with orchestras in England, Colombia and France, but of particular note is: his solo performance with the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, which was broadcast on national radio and television in 2005; his 2018 performance of the Aranjuez Concerto in Saint Martin in the Fields (one of the most prestigious concert halls in London); the Latin American premiere of Steve Goss's Guitar Concerto in 2019 at the Teatro Colón in Bogotá with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia. In addition to his solo career, Francisco is an enthusiastic chamber musician: he performs regularly with flutist Samantha Pearce (Alba Duo), and also with guitarist David Massey (Duo Correa-Massey).
