Five Stars For Failure was a Philadelphia, PA area hardcore band that was formed in February 1999, and existed until April 2001, then from September through November of the same year. Jay Donahue (guitar, vocals) and Justin LaBarge (bass, vocals) met in 1996 through a mutual friend and were soon making music together in the band The Idea Men, later re-named I Bleed For This? shortly before disbanding. In early 1999, Jay and Justin began writing music together again and were in search of other musicians. They met Matt Reilly (drums, vocals) by responding to an ad posted in a Bensalem, PA record store. Jay, Justin and Matt began practicing together at Jays' grandparents house in Warminster in February 1999 and recorded a four song demo (on a four track) in June. In September of that year, the band recorded their self titled four song 7" at Dan's House Studio in Bethlehem, PA. The band went back to Dan's House in April 2000 and recorded four new songs. These songs were originally meant to appear on a split cd with fellow Philly area hardcore band The Sound Of Failure, but this release never materialized. They recorded their final two songs with Vince Ratti at Skylight Studios in Fairless Hills, PA during October 2001. After the band called it quits, a discography cd-r was self-released and two reunion shows were played: the first on January 3rd 2003 at Harrykats' in Aston, PA and then a benefit for their close friend Rich Lee on June 24th, 2007 at Siren Records in Doylesto
