Fishbasket and The Phlegms formed in 1991, when Shitmeister General (guitar) was introduced to Dee Emm Exx (Drums) by a mutual friend who was barely able to play the bass. The band formed with the intention of writing simple songs that all three could play together. The mutual friend rapidly disappeared, and several other friends and relatives of Mr. Exx's passed through the band before they settled on Ground Hog as a regular drummer, with Dee switching to bass. This configuration lasted throughout 1993; finally, Mr. Fishbasket I, an untrained but enthusiastic vocalist, joined the band, making it a foursome and making the sound fuller, as all four members sang together. The music began to change at this time, as the band members were all now accomplished enough to add long psychedelic improvisations to their sets of loud and boisterous punk rock. This configuration broke up in the Summer of 1995 due to personal conflicts and scheduling problems. In the fall of 1995, a pair of vocalists/musicians, Snotty B. Greene and Mr. Fishbasket II, showed up on the scene with drummer Professor Wimsatt Beardsley in tow, with an eye to re-forming the band. Snotty took the bass chores, and Mr. Fishbasket became the lead vocalist. The setup was much the same, with hardcore punk originals written by Shitmeister alternating with increasingly bizarre and lengthy improvisations, sometimes reaching lengths of 30 or 40 minutes at a stretch. Shortly thereafter, Lord Sinus, a friend who sang
