Artist
Sonic Suicide Squad is Sam Lohman (Sheer Terror/Nimrod/36/Cash Slave Clique) on drums Vinnie Paternostro (Temple of Bon Matin/Arthur Doyle Electro Acoustic Ensemble/Steve Mackay and the Radon Ensemble) on tenor sax and Jon Simler (Cash Slave Clique) live acoustic manipulation. The project started out as a collaboration for a show at George Washington University in Washington DC for Jeff Bagato's "Electric Possible" series. The trio rehearsed over the weekend as they prepared for the gig, recording as they went. The idea was to be a free improv group using acoustic drums and sax, which Lohman and Paternostro had been working on, and add a harsh noise element by capitalizing on Simler's background in Cash Slave Clique. The first of the DC recordings is "Songs for Slaughter" released by Bagato's Panic Research label. Three other releases are slated for release late '08/early '09 - "The Devil is Wise Because He is Old" (Negative Force) "We Ain't No God Damn Jazz Band" (Negative Force) (The title taken from a show at the Spring Water Tavern in Nashville TN with Arthur Doyle Electro Acoustic Ensemble in which Paternostro was a member at the time. Mid set Doyle started screaming "We ain't no god damn jazz band" into the mic. The album title is a tribute to Arthur.) "With This Dream, Death Shall Come" will be released by Snapped in Half from Halifax Canada. Sonic Suicide Squad will be the opening act of the April '09 Acid Mothers Temple tour. http://www.myspace.com/sonic
