FADED MOTORWAY CRONIES are a self-proclaimed Dublin "artband extraordinaire" who have recently come to light for their peculiar fusion of modern powerchord rock, old-school lead guitar, punchy beats and poetic post-modernist lyricism. Beginning in 2005, Mark W and Mark H wrote songs in the small, quiet town of Blessington or in the equally serene suburb of Knocklyon. The boys wrote a swathe of songs and began to perform live for a few months, having their first gig on the 8th of January 2006. A few months later, two mysterious members joined. This incarnation of the Cronies consisted of vocalist Mark W, guitarist/vocalist Mark H, lead guitarist Marla Z and percussionist Marcy P. Dubbing their style "powercut pop" and/or "chillout punk," the band have finished their first recording session, coming out with the three-track "Faded Motorway Cronies Present:" in June 2006. The band parted ways in 2007 but lives on fondly in the memory and harddrives of a small few. Since the inception of FMC, a number of side-projects have kept the members of FMC occupied, such as Why Take Fire?, Where Is This, and This Box Is Empty.
