Artist
Fabatka was founded in 1997 by Ferenc Ségercz with his students of shepherd’s flute and folk music. These students were only teenagers, however they knew all about the traditional music of Moldavia, Ghymes and Felcsík region. Their performances were based on a new version of traditional folk music combined with improvisation. After years of experimentation, the result is a special sound. Fabatka’s goal has been to make good music on the foundation of folk traditions. In 2006 some members left the band and some new, professional musicians joined it. These changes made Fabatka’s music more elaborate and mature, and this is the music which has been living its own life on stage since then. Their first album in 2000 was titled ‘Tegnap es ma mentem haza’(Again I Went Home Tomorrow) and it contains music from Moldavia and Felcsík region. The second album called ‘...hogy szeresszen i világ’ (...Thus to be Loved by the World) came out in 2002. Although their third CD remained unpublished, the last album ‘Nyáron piros, télen kék...’ (Red in Summer, Blue in Winter..’) is out now!
