Born in Havana, Cuba on 13 June 1969. He got into music at a very early age - although he didn't play any musical instrument, he sang in a choir. He learned to play the guitar with his school friend Javier Alvarez (aka "El Cabeza") at the age of 17. He started writing songs of his own in 1987, and started performing them in 1989.
