Bringing together a mixture of emotionally drenched songs with often sparse instrumentation the intricate, stripped back tracks on Emma Rugg's debut album have an almost exquisite sadness about them and an emotionally charged depth that has seen her work reviewed as being intimate, honest and affecting. The album - 'Isolated Impression' - was financed by months of extensive busking. Recorded in analog at Fairview Studios, Emma's guitar features on every track of this collection of otherwise instrumentally bare songs. A brilliantly bleak and vulnerably intimate introduction. The E.P 'Oceans / Depart' is a mix of retro, rock and pop including songs recorded both in the UK and USA. After months of voting and hundreds of entries from unsigned artists across the globe the song 'Oceans' made it through to the finals of The People's Music Awards. Emma won an award in the Pop category for 'Best New Artist' (2010) and played a live set at the awards ceremony in London. Collaborations with US singer/songwriter Henry Doss include acoustic and rock tracks - the two met 'on-air' in 2003 via the BBC Raw Talent radio show. In 2007 their 'Directions Tour' took them to venues on the East Coast and Mid Atlantic of the USA, as well as house concerts, benefit shows and bookstores from northern Michigan to Tennessee.
