Emma Bailey's singing career really started when at the age of 13 she was offered the chance to sing during country singer Katy Benko’s concert for the local Optimists club. Meeting Katy was a pivotal moment for Emma. Shortly afterwards, Emma started having voice lessons with Katy, and she’s never looked back! Emma soon started singing with local rock and blues bands, and for several years played numerous fund raising and charity events in the DC area before branching out on her own. Singing and making guest appearances with several local bands, including SRO, ‘The Mike Devlin Band’, ‘Second Wind’, and for the last 2 years singing backing vocals in Katy Benko’s own band, have given Emma a great start. Since having voice lessons with Katy Benko, and more recently with award winning vocalist Mary Ann Redmond, Emma has stepped out in her own right, and gained a loyal local following. One of her main loves is modern country music, with artists like Martina McBride and Sara Evans among her favorites, but Emma she sings songs across many genres and is a great fan of Bonnie Raitt. Her current set lists might include songs from Martina and Sara, but will also include people like Bon Jovi and (maybe surprisingly) Whitesnake, all done in her own inimitable style.
