The music of Elodie Lauten was presented by the Lincoln Center Festival, the New York City Opera, WNYC, The Kitchen, the Performing Garage, the Dance Theater Workshop, La Mama, The Whitney Museum, the Paris Museum of Modern Art, the Soho Baroque Opera, Downtown Music Productions, Harpsichord Unlimited, the American Festival of Microtonal Music, The Lark Ascending, Interpretations, SEM Ensemble and others. As of 2007, the discography includes 26 titles, on Lovely Music, O.O. Discs, Point/ Polygram, Capitol, New Tone (Italy), 4-Tay, Nonsequitur, Tellus, Frog Peak, Capstone, Pitch and Studio 21.In addition, working as a producer and artistic director, Lauten has released CDs for other artists in multiple genres. The musical oeuvre consists of many electronic, electro-acoustic and piano pieces, experimental music, some chamber and orchestral works, and her landmark pieces, the operas, or rather, 'neo-operas' evolving from or deconstructing the classical model: The Death of Don Juan (1985), Existence (1991), The Deus Ex Machina Cycle (1997), Orfreo (2004) and Waking in New York (1999), the latter listed among the most influential works of the last three decades. Elodie Lauten is no stranger to visual art : she had several group and solo exhibitions of her work including drawings, sound installations and computer-generated animation.
