Elena Roger (born Elena Silvia Roger on October 27, 1974 in Argentina) is an Argentine actress who appeared in the West End comedy play Boeing Boeing as the Alitalia air stewardess, Gabriella, at the Comedy Theatre in Panton Street.[1] She starred as Eva Perón in the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita at the Adelphi theatre. Among her theatre credits in her native Buenos Aires, the original productions of Nine directed by David Leveaux, Beauty and the Beast directed by Keith Batten, as Fantine in Les Misérables directed by Ken Caswell, and Annette in Saturday Night Fever directed by Tony Edge. Other productions include Tango por Dos (in London), the musicals Fiddler on the Roof, Houdini and La Fiaca. In 2003 Roger and director Valeria Ambrosio devised Mina, che cosa sei in which Roger starred. The musical, based on the Italian actress, won five awards including the ACE (Critics’ Award) for best actress. From June 2006 until May 2007 she was involved in a West End revival of Evita to critical acclaim, and was nominated for best actress in a musical at the Olivier Awards.[2] Roger appeared playing Edith Piaf at the Donmar and Vaudeville Theatres in London from August 2008 to January 2009 for which she was awarded the Olivier Award[3] for Best Actress in a Musical. On July 15, 2009, Rogers went on stage again to play the role of Edith Piaf, as the musical opened in the Teatro Liceo in her native Buenos Aires.
