Starting in beautiful tropical Port Douglas were; Cale, Steve and Brad who got musical together after a few shows in Cairns and playing the 'Karanda Little Day Out'. They soon started to realise there was not much of a music industry in FNQ. So, they jumped out off their hammocks and moved to the suthern suburbs of Sydney at the end of '99 going under the name Breen. Snapping up Woody (Drums) was a gruelling 7 month search, the boys tried out alot of interesting drummers, "Some," says Steve (Vox), "should not be allowed near a drum kit EVER AGAIN! it was embarrassing and a horrible experience to watch most of them". Then a guy named Woody responded to the add, who by the way rocked up to the trial with a suit and tie fresh from a hard day at the office, first impressions were shocking, but soon faded after a couple of songs. "Soon as he bashed into his groove we found our guy!" Torch (keys) joined after hearing a demo 8 months later after splitting with his band, 'The Crown' which he fronted and by 2001 Breen where giging around Sydney. The name 'Dreamshifter' came in mid 2003 for reasons they cannot explain. In mid 2004 the band were invited to play on a reality tv show called 'The Resort', hosted by Jon Stevens from Noise Works. Jon took a curious liking to DS and helped them out with what he could.
