Death by Snoo Snoo was established in Oulu, northern Finland, in the fall of 2007 when a group of local fellas began to play cover versions of Beastie Boys’ early HC-material. The band initially played gigs under the name Moominvalley Hardcore Crew, for example warming up for the legendary Finnish hardcore pioneers, Terveet kädet. Soon the band decided it was time to start making songs of their own, and then it was also time to change the name of the band. The newly-titled group Death by Snoo Snoo released their first EP in the summer of 2008. It was titled “EP”, and it consisted for example of singer Hanne’s peculiar melodica-arrangements and cat’s meowing in the bursting ‘Cat Song’. The band composed some more material and recorded them somewhat rapidly. In the fall of 2008 guitarist Hanna left the band as she moved to Southern Finland. A new guitarist, Heidi, joined the band which played its first gig with her in May 2009. The group kept on touring, for example in the young but legendary Helsinki Punk Festival, but publishers for the recorded material were nowhere to be found. Because of that, the band released the songs of the album, which was titled ‘LP’, in the Internet and by publishing small DIY-cassette editions which were sold at gigs. In the summer of 2010 also Heidi left the band as she too moved to Southern Finland. Shortly yet another guitarist, Laura, joined the band which began to write new material immediately.
