Artist
Vocalist and composer David Blamires was born in Bradford, England but moved to Toronto to become one of Canada's most versatile and sought after session musicians. His voice appeared on thousands of jingles, album recordings, movie sound tracks, etc. From 1986 - 1997 he was a member of the Pat Metheny Group, and during this time he appeared on 3 Grammy-Award-winning albums - Still Life (Talking), We Live Here & Imaginary Day - and with Pat, performed for many thousands of fans all over the world. In addition to non-lyrical singing on several of the Pat Metheny Group's albums, Blamires also played guitar, trumpet, violin, mellophone, and recorder. For a couple of the albums, Blamires even picked up marimbas and accordion. During this time, he recorded and released his own self-titled contemporary jazz/worldbeat album – The David Blamires Group – throughout the US and Canada.
