Artist
Dance 2 Trance was a German trance and techno duo consisting of Rolf Ellmer, also known as Jam El Mar, and DJ Dag Lerner. The project was associated with Jam & Spoon. They are best known for the 1992 single "Power of American Natives" and released several singles during the early and mid-1990s. DJ Dag and Jam El Mar met in 1990 and began collaborating that year. Their first release was a promotional single titled "Dance 2 Trance" on the Suck Me Plasma label, which included the tracks "Dance 2 Trance" and "We Came in Peace". The latter has been cited as an early example of trance music. In 1992, the duo achieved commercial success with the single "Power of American Natives", which featured vocals by Linda Rocco. The song sold approximately 250,000 copies and received a gold certification. A music video for the track was broadcast on music television channels including MTV. The track was later remixed and reissued in 1997, 1998, and 2009. The duo released their first album, "Moon Spirits", in 1992, followed by "Revival" in 1995. In 1995, the members ended their collaboration and pursued separate projects. DJ Dag continued his career as a solo artist, while Ellmer focused on other projects including Jam & Spoon. In 1996, the German label Blow Up released a compilation album containing thirteen tracks from the duo’s recordings made between 1990 and 1995.
