Artist
Daniel John Baird (born December 12, 1953) is an American singer-songwriter, musician and producer. He is best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist from the 1980s rock band The Georgia Satellites. Baird formed The Georgia Satellites in 1980 and left the band in 1990 to pursue a solo career. He is often credited as one of the pioneers in cowpunk and alt-country music, which combines elements of rock music, country music, outlaw country, and punk rock. Homemade Sin were originally set up as a backing band for ex-Georgia Satellites singer/songwriter/guitarist Dan Baird. The initial line-up consisted of ex Satellites bandmates Mauro Magellan on drums and Keith Christopher on Bass, with Ken McMahan on lead guitar. Both Mauro and Keith had played on Dan's solo albums 'Love Songs for the Hearing Impaired' and 'Buffalo Nickel'. Ken had played with Dan on his live album 'Redneck Savant' under the name Dan Baird and the Sofa Kings'. A change of line-up in 2008, when Ken McMahan left to be replaced by Jason & the Scorchers guitarist Warner E. Hodges, also signalled a change in focus of the band. This was now to be a band, and not a Dan Baird solo project. New songs were written as a band and an eponymous studio album recorded, with both Keith and Warner taking their turn at lead vocal slots. Extensive touring throughout 2008 and 2009, frequently doing double headline slots with the Quireboys, saw their live audience continue to grow. Wikipedia: Dan Baird User-contributed
