DJ -e-, Jouko Eemil Hahkio was born 1957 in Helsinki, Finland. DJ -e- was exposed to classical music, rock pop, jazz already in the cradle. Father and mother kept radio playing music all day. Unfortunately playing music himself came into picture only a lot later. After having done rather regular DJ work for seven years (1987-1994) along day jobs Jouko quit that and concentrated only on career in IT business. However, From year 1995 Jouko started composing and practising seriously to play keyboards. First the music hobby was quite random experimenting with various MIDI music tools on a PC. After starting to use Apple Macintosh and its tools the hobby got more serious with systematic song and sound design and production. Today the hobby has resulted a full album of music waiting to be released. The artist name DJ -e- was invented 2001 trying to find something relevant to be advertised before a staff party performance using laptops as CD players. e-business was a hot term those days, thus the name.
