Christopher Field commenced studying a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance before concentrating on singing and minor studies in harpsichord. He was the recipient of the Australian Postgraduate Award for his Masters studies at the University of Melbourne. Currently a recipient of the prestigious Rae and Edith Bennett scholarship, he is a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he studies with David Lowe and Iain Ledingham. He has been awarded many prizes, including The Pearis Rodger Scholarship for pianoforte performance, the Mabel Kent Scholarship for singing, the Dame Nellie Melba Prize, The Ormond Exhibition, The Mona McCaughey Scholarship and The Elise Widermann Scholarship all from Melbourne University, as well as The Harold McDonald Scholarship from the Early Music Society of Victoria. He was also awarded the prestigious Marten Bequest in 2001/2 which took him to Europe and the UK for further study. Operatic engagements have included the role of Polinesso in Handel’s Ariodante with Stopera, and Oberon in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Co*Opera. He was engaged by Opera Australia covering the role of Eustazio in Handel’s Rinaldo, and has also sung the role of Waki-tsure in Crispin-Cresswell’s The Nameless Dead with Stopera. In 2005 he sung the countertenor role in John Adams’ El Nino at the Sydney Opera House and covered the role of Goffredo in Handel’s Rinaldo with Opera Australia. 2006 engagements included the countertenor role in Jud
