Artist
Christian Friedrich Schale (1713–1800) was a Berlin-based Prussian-era musician—active as organist and composer and also employed within court musical life. He studied organ and composition with Christian Ernst Rolle and later entered the service of Margrave Heinrich (from 1735) before joining the Prussian court in Berlin (from 1742). In Berlin he is associated with Berlin Cathedral (as second organist) and with the city’s concert culture as leader of a regular Musikalische Assemblée, while his surviving output includes printed keyboard/organ repertory such as Leichte Vorspiele für die Orgel und das Clavier.
