Artist
Case Mayfield (real name: Kees Veerman, born 1987 in Volendam, The Netherlands) is a Dutch singer-songwriter based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Mayfield first gained some prominence by winning the 'popular vote' of the Grote Prijs van Nederland singer-songwriter contest in 2010. Play It Again Sam (PIAS) signed him up and released his debut album, The Many Colored Beast (2012), to rave reviews in. The album was nominated for two different Dutch Edison awards, for 'Best Newcomer' and 'Album of the Year'. More albums followed, notably 10 (2012), Girl Beard (2013), Another Glorious Battle for the Kingdom (2014) and Egomaniac (2018). Case Mayfield is known as somewhat 'stage-shy' and has a love/hate relationship with performing live. Throughout his career, he has preferred living room performances and one-off gigs at small, intimate venues. After more than five years of silence, live album recorded in 2018 at the bar of Amsterdam's Backstage Hotel was made available in August 2024: Egomaniac (Live at the Backstage Hotel Amsterdam, 2018). November 2024 saw the release of the song 'Crawl', Mayfield's first new studio recording to see the light of day since 2018. A long overdue, yet rather short new studio album, Dying Day, finally came out in January 2025. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
