Artist
Calm Palm Vapor originates from the South Side of Chicago, a music project created by Pierogi - who writes and sings the music - and secretwars - who makes the beats and plays the drums. They combine compelling melodies, R&B basslines, haunting hooks and pulsating rhythms to create a form of post-shoegaze music they call Space Motown. Calm Palm Vapor performed their first official show in Chicago at The Honky Tonk BBQ in Pilsen on August 20, 2010. The two piece uses sequencers, loops and the occasional extra musician to accommodate secretwars' drumming and Pierogi's guitar/vocals to perform live. Morning Pacific was written and recorded during 2009-2010. Morning Pacific contains 11 compelling songs written and recorded by Calm Palm Vapor. A friend of the band hooked them up with Canadian remix master CFCF who lent his talents to a remix of the highly infectious single, Hate to See You Smile. CFCF, who's done well regarded remixes for bands like Health and Crystal Castles, has crafted an electro pop masterpiece around Calm Palm Vapor's Hate to See You Smile. Pierogi and secretwars cite many influences in the making of this album: Brian Eno, Ian Brown, Stone Roses, Ride, Jesus & Mary Chain, James Brown, Slowdive, Spiritualized, Spacemen 3, Neu!, Stereolab, DJ Shadow, Super Furry Animals & My Bloody Valentine. They performed their final show on April 22, 2011 at Subterranean in Chicago with Very Truly Yours, EULA, architecture and North by North. User-contributed text is
