Broken By The Scream is a Japanese kawaii metal/idol metal group that integrates metalcore, djent, and deathcore with idol-style vocals, creating a unique soundscape. Formed in October 2016, the band has become known for its unusual vocal setup: founding member Io delivers low growls, while Yayoi provides high-pitched screams, complemented by Tsubaki and Shizuku's clean vocals. The band officially debuted at Nishikawaguchi Hearts on January 15, 2017, and released their first mini-album, Screaming Rhapsody, later that year through PCI Music. They held their first solo live show, “The First Scream,” at Shibuya DESEO on September 10, 2017. Their live performances, which fuse intense metal music with energetic idol choreography, have garnered attention from both Japanese and international fans. Notably, they performed at the Tokyo Idol Festival in August 2018, where enthusiastic moshing led to heightened security measures. Later in August, tthey released their debut full-length album, An Alien's Portrait. Broken By The Scream expanded their reach in December 2018, when they performed at the Rock in Taichung festival in Taiwan and later at the Jeonju Ultimate Music Festival in South Korea in January 2019. In September 2019, they later traveled to the United States, performing at a convention in Phoenix, Arizona.
