Artist
Brenda is a high energy, traditional fiddler. She was raised in Point Aconi, a small Cape Breton coal mining and fishing community. She began playing the piano and dancing at 5 years of age, and began playing the fiddle at 8. She grew up surrounded by good musicians. Her father, brothers, and uncles all played the fiddle. Her father Robert, played in the Irish style, while her uncle Lauchie played and composed in the Scottish style. Good musicians such as Winston Fitzgerald, Johnny Wilmot, and Joe Confiant frequently visited her family. Brenda incorporated the styles of all these fiddlers into her music. She has performed in Ireland, Scotland, Mexico and throughout Canada and the United States. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
