BonTempo is a self-described “gag album” reportedly recorded by members of the Matthew Good Band during spare studio time. Released in 2001 under the pseudo-band name BonTempo, the album features satirical, off-kilter tracks with heavy doses of vulgarity and sarcasm. Although never officially listed in the main discography of the Matthew Good Band, fan sources suggest that the core participants included Matthew Good and guitarist Rich Priske, possibly alongside other collaborators. Forum posts and archived fan sites indicate the project was an inside joke among early hardcore fans, surfacing on obscure message boards and independent releases. Track listings pull from underground references and include titles like “Bespin, the Betrayal,” “Subjugate Me,” “Daddy’s Got a Brand New Van,” and a “Reprise.” Given its limited release and lack of mainstream documentation, BonTempo remains a cult item—rare, unofficial, and frequently discussed in fan circles for its strange humour and low-budget production aesthetic.
