There are at least two artists with this name. Blue Coats was a band formed in early 2007 by Ian Laczynski and Ryan O'Rourke after their former group the Puritans broke up. The duo joined up with Matt Jones and Stephen Bailey to form The New Buildings in June of 2008, subsequently becoming Beat Surrender in January 2009. Blue Coats is also a drum corps.
